I spend so much of my time photographing grand vistas and spectacular landscapes that it’s often easy for me to overlook the tiny and beautiful things of our world. Stumbling around the rain-soaked woods above Calistoga, a moss-covered log crossed my path. The sheer variety of greens had already overwhelmed a desert-dweller like myself, so the plush carpeting each tree bore piqued my interest. It was a tiny world all to itself with mushrooms as mini-umbrellas. I could imagine myself an inch tall and wandering this surreal landscape. Would it be so alien? Would I feel like Alice? I can only really say that it would be another adventure.
