Ciao and Peace

Everyone deserves a rest day. For those of us who burn ourselves away in everything we do, we may need it even more. There is nothing so relaxing as water; it’s as close to floating as we flightless creatures can enjoy. I remember this day and more so its morning. We snorkeled around Champion Island, and my camera battery died. Instead of lamenting, I gave myself up to the waters. Floating along, exploring the few caves, but more gliding with the currents. There was a young sea lion swimming along with us, and I, giving up all purpose decided to play. Taking a deep breath, I dove and twisted and spun, all the while my pinniped companion swam with me. There is something magical in play, more so in sharing with others. And so we played tag, round and around, breaking only when I needed breath again. It made me feel like a child, and in a small way I found some peace.
