A fit of madness took me to Arkansas in the height of summer. Oddly enough, I really liked Little Rock. It was hot and so humid that a poor desert rat like me felt like I was drowning, but I still had a great time. A shameless tourist at times, I even got my first ride on a riverboat on an actual river. The birds were the big highlight for me with a cardinal and the purple martins which we absolutely everywhere. My eyes are always drawn abroad when thinking about travel, so I often forget about the wonders in my own country. Why Arkansas? I was asked. Simply because I have never been there before.
