It seems that no matter where I travel, I am always drawn to water. From the ever-present crash of the ocean to the smallest whisper of a creek, there is an unparalleled appeal for me. Life begins with water, flocks to it, is sustained by it. The more I get into birding, the more this is proven to me. One-third of my Sibley is water fowl; there are more types of ducks than I ever imagined. So here between Tule Lake and Crater, while my friend fell asleep in our hotel room, I discovered Klamath and her pelicans. The call of all that pristine water was irresistible, and I hope others follow it as well.
